Busy Fall

This fall is flying by like always!  We have been so busy with fun things I can't keep my blog up to date.  So here is my attempt to catch up on our fall happenings.  Be prepared for LOTS of pictures!

We were able to successfully take down our old shed and put up a new one.  We finally have a shed that won't fall down and is painted like our house.  I am one happy wife!

One thing that has kept us busy this year is my pregnancy.  The first half has gone SO fast!  I can't believe I am already 22 weeks!  At 20 weeks we got to find out that we are having a baby girl.  We could not be more excited.  My favorite part so far has been feeling baby girl Henning moving.  It is such a miracle!

To celebrate our baby girl news we had a gender reveal party.  Drew didn't want to do anything and I wanted to go overboard so we met in the middle.  ;)  We smoked some meat and had family over to reveal the news.  We even got to FaceTime our news with our three siblings that live out of state.  It was a very fun night!!

Two days after our big baby appointment our dear friends Kyle and Natalie came to town from North Carolina.  They lived in Omaha for two years and we quickly became best friends.  We hate that they live so far away but we always have fun visiting each other.

This trip was extra special because we got to meet their baby Connor for the first time!  Last time we visited them in NC Connor was days from arriving.  It was such a treat to get to spend lots of time cuddling and watching Connor.  It felt like he had always been part of our little friend family!

While they were here we visited their favorite Omaha spots and spent lots of time laughing!  We have been so blessed by our friendship with Kyle and Natalie.  I hate having them so far away but they did pick a state with better weather!  :)

We met Kyle and Natalie when they started our Journey Group as leaders many years ago.  As a special treat we got to get together with our whole journey group at Kevin and Vanessa's house in the country.  We picked apples, ate soup and had a bon fire.  It was so special for everyone to be together!  Drew and I feel so blessed to have these friends in our life!

After our wonderful time with dear friends we began to prepare for our annual Nebraska road game trip.  This year we traveled to Minnesota for the game.  We go with a group of fourteen but this year we didn't get a good group shot.  :(  Our dear college friends Brian and Jaime are always up for a football adventure.

We had a great time exploring Minneapolis and spending time together.  The stadium was new and very nice.  I loved the college vibe and fun food around the stadium.  However, the game did not turn out so well.  The Huskers lost big.  Drew had a hard time coping with the loss but luckily the city had a famous Juicy Lucy burger he was able eat to heal some of the pain.  It was a great trip made even sweeter by the fact that Jaime and I are both expecting.  Jaime and Brian will be having twins in January and our little girl will come in March.  So next year may look a little different!  :)

It has been one busy fall so far and things are just getting started.  I know as baby grows and the weather gets cold things will slow down.  Right now I am enjoying each and every moment of fall!

San Francisco 2013

This past weekend Drew and I headed out to San Francisco for a little vacation.  Drew has an annual conference in San Fran for the product he uses called VMware.  It is a huge conference and Drew loves going.  In the past I have never been able to join him because August is not a good time to take off work when you are teaching.

So this year we decided it was the year for me to join.  We flew out together and spent a long weekend exploring the city together.  Then I came home and Drew remained for the rest of the week for his conference.  I enjoyed the city so much next year I may just stay the whole time.

Drew had been to San Fran before but has always been busy with his conference.  So this year we strapped on our tennis shoes and did all things tourist.  The first day we arrived, after I got in lots of shopping, we headed down along the bay for a Giants baseball game.  The stadium was beautiful and just beyond the outfield is the bay.  There were kayakers in the water ready to retrieve any homerun balls.  We were both really impressed with the stadium and had a great time despite the fact that it was really cold!

The next day we headed down to Fisherman's Wharf.  We spent the day exploring the sites all along the bay.  From the Golden Gate Bridge to the Ghirardelli chocolate factory.  We took a boat tour that took us all around the sites.  It was a very windy ride but such a fun way to see everything.

It was a fun day exploring all the sites.  The only down side of this day was when we got back to the hotel I became very sick.  Turned out I got food poisoning!  Not a fun way to spend a night in the city but what can you do!?

The next morning after nursing me back to strength we checked into a new hotel where Drew would be spending the rest of the week.  We ventured out to explore the Ferry Building.  It had beautiful views of the bay and was less crowded.  It also had an indoor market filled with tons of fun food to explore.

Overall it was a great trip to San Francisco!  We had so much fun exploring the city together and seeing new things.  I can't wait to go back again!

Henning Steamboat Vacation

Once all the wedding guests had gone home, the bride and groom were on their honeymoon and the centerpieces were all packed away, it was time for a Colorado vacation!!  Drew's Aunt and Uncle were so gracious and let the Henning family use their BEAUTIFUL Steamboat condo for a week.  It was such a wonderful gift to the family and a vacation we had been looking forward to for a long time!

We loaded up the cars and headed out to Steamboat Colorado for some rest and relaxation.  The vacation was filled with lots of laughter and memories that will last a lifetime.  I felt so blessed and thankful to God that Marcia was healthy enough to go on the vacation.  To be together as a family in Colorado truly seemed so far off a year ago.  It is amazing the healing power God has provided Marcia's body over the last months.  It was truly a celebration vacation!

The first night we arrived we got to watch the hot air balloon rodeo.  Right out back of the condo five huge hot air balloons set up.  They lit up the night and were very beautiful.  The following mornings we also got to watch the balloons fly overhead from the condo deck.  There is nothing like a steaming cup of coffee, morning Colorado air and watching hot air balloons pass in the sky!

One of our favorite activities while in Steamboat was a family hike up Fish Creek Falls.  It as a beautiful hike where we got to see two beautiful waterfalls.  It was a long hike up but the whole family made it to the upper waterfall and it was totally worth the hike!

During our time in Steamboat we biked, tubed down the river, shopped, visited the hot springs, went to the rodeo, ate amazing food and had a blast as a family together!  It was a wonderful vacation the Henning family will always treasure!
